Letter from Aleksandar Ivanovic, President & CEO

Alex Ivanovic, President & CEO

These continue to be exciting times at Webcom, Inc: business is good and our customers are successful. Along with this you probably have noticed some changes in our look.

Since our last quarterly newsletter, we have renovated our website to make it more user-friendly, launched a new product called CallidusCloud WorkFlow for addressing Workflow, Process and Case Management challenges, launched two new releases of WebSource CPQ, moved to larger offices in downtown Milwaukee, have seen the launching of our own independent User Group, and even been covered in the Wall Street Journal!

CallidusCloud WorkFlow was introduced to handle the workflow needs addressing the demand of both internal and external customers and tracking the corrective action process anytime, anywhere. CallidusCloud WorkFlow helps organizations keep their projects on track without making the lives of team members more complicated. From a central location, you can manage the key aspects of all types of cases, including product and service defects, customer and supplier complaints, non-conformance issues, health and safety incidents and RMAs. You’ve always had the responsibility: now you have the ABILITY to respond.

Along with CallidusCloud WorkFlow, the new release of WebSource CPQ 6.02 is here, and we guarantee that you will benefit from the new features! Using your suggestions and ideas, we have expanded WebSource CPQ’s already advanced and powerful capabilities. The new features make it even easier for you to view, edit, create and manage quotes that are linked to the salesforce.com Opportunity page. Now you are also able to access any opportunity or account information for Oracle Siebel CRM OnDemand or salesforce.com when writing product configuration, discounting, approval or any other rules of expressions.

Again, thank you for your helpful suggestions and comments. I hope that you will enjoy the new WebSource CPQ 6.02.

Webcom, Inc. has its own new CPQ User Group. This user group allows our customers and potential customers to post questions and comments to each other and learn from each others experiences. Many customers have requested such a discussion group to facilitate communication between each other, and we are happy to oblige! Many thanks to the tremendous work of Alex Knezevic from Marena Group, the creator of the user group web site (www.cpqusergroup.com).

We attended Dreamforce Europe, Salesforce’s inaugural annual European user, partner, media, and analyst event. We were pleased to be a sponsor of the event, exhibit and spend time with the media, industry analysts, partners, users and attendees of all shapes and sizes. Key announcements included the availability of CallidusCloud WorkFlow on Salesforce.com’s AppExchange, as well as Applied Microsystems LTD integration with WebSource CPQ via the AppExchange.

Our next stop will be at the Oracle Global Sales Kick-off conference in Las Vegas this June!

If not already a customer, or using only one of our solutions, please visit our website (www.webcominc.com) to get a free trial of the solution you are not using, as well as refer a friend to earn some pretty neat gifts.

I thank all of our customers for their business and look forward to new customer relationships.

Latest Innovation Addresses Case Management and Workflow Processing

Milwaukee, Wisconsin, May 5, 2008 Webcom, Inc., the leader in simplifying the complex, today announced the availability of CallidusCloud WorkFlow, Webcom's newest offering addressing the case management and workflow processing areas. CallidusCloud WorkFlow is designed to speed "time-to-resolution", eliminate unnecessary time delays and improve overall communications and productivity through improved transparency and collaboration.

CallidusCloud WorkFlow is a robust case management and workflow solution that helps organizations keep their projects on track without making the lives of team members more complicated. This basic application provides a central location for managing the key aspects of all types of cases, including product and service defects, customer and supplier complaints, non-conformance issues, health and safety incidents and RMAs. Separate tabs keep key information within easy reach. Your team can log issues as they arise, prioritize them, and update their status as appropriate. Built-in reports let you see open issues by project, projects by stage, and many other categories.

"After months of review and the evaluation of numerous vendors to help implement a Product Information Management system, we chose CallidusCloud WorkFlow from Webcom", stated Mark Hughes, Internet Marketing Manager at Broan-NuTone. "Having several thousand products to manage from conception to obsolescence, we wanted to have stability out of the box. We feel that CallidusCloud WorkFlow is the perfect fit", added Hughes.

With some research indicating customer acquisition costing as much as 10 times as customer retention, CallidusCloud WorkFlow complements Webcom's quoting solution, WebSource CPQ, quite well and continues the company's focus on simplifying the complex. "Attaining your goals and objectives requires not only a focus on obtaining new business through a quote-to-order solution such as WebSource CPQ, but just as rigorous a focus on retaining your most treasured asset, your customers", commented Aleksandar Ivanovic, CEO and founder, Webcom, Inc. "CallidusCloud WorkFlow is just the type of solution needed to help drive customer satisfaction, innovation and repeat business", added Ivanovic.

Client-specific input, industry best practice and the personal experiences of the Webcom product and delivery teams has led to a very robust module, comprised of a number of key features:

  • Disposition and manage all types of cases, including:
    • Product and service defects
    • Customer and supplier complaints
    • Nonconformance issues
    • Health and safety incidents
    • RMAs and ECNs
  • Ease of workflow modeling
  • Flexible definition of assignments, notifications, recipients
  • Conditional actions drive implicit and explicit notifications
  • Intuitive UI and flexible forms design
  • Robust visibility rules and permissioning
  • Create and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)

  • Full audit trail and archiving capability
  • Export in CSV, Excel, XML, PDF or RTF file format

"CallidusCloud WorkFlow enables a company to drive quality process control and change management while remaining responsive to the needs of the business and clients", commented Trevor J. Owen, Six Sigma Black Belt. "This product is designed to let the business fit the product to its processes rather than force a re-design on process to fit the product, which is all too common with many process management tools today", said Owen.

CallidusCloud WorkFlow is available immediately, with a free trial. Deployed in a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model, pricing starts at $20 per user per month for an internal user and $5 per user per month for an external user ($1 per case generated by external users).

Applied Microsystems LTD Leverages the Power of Platform-As-A-Service to Successfully Integrate WebSource CPQ with Salesforce via the AppExchange

WebSource CPQ enables Applied Microsystems LTD to stream-line the quote-to-order process

SAN FRANCISCO – Salesforce.com Europe Dreamforce Conference – May 7th, 2008 – Webcom, Inc. today announced that Applied Microsystems LTD (AML) has successfully deployed WebSource CPQ via salesforce.com’s AppExchange. Bridging the gap from opportunity to order, WebSource CPQ allows Applied Microsystems to configure, price, quote and propose their offerings across multiple sales and distribution channels anytime, anywhere. WebSource CPQ is designed to help drive increased revenues and margins, increased customer satisfaction, reduced costs and improved productivity. Leveraging salesforce.com’s Force.com platform, WebSource CPQ for AppExchange is available for test drive and deployment at http://www.salesforce.com/appexchange. The announcement was made today at Dreamforce Europe, salesforce.com’s User and Developer Conference.

For 34 years, Applied Microsystems has manufactured underwater sensors for the freshwater, oceanographic and geophysical industries. The company - located in the Ocean Technology cluster in Sidney, British Columbia, on Canada's Pacific coast - has an impressive history of innovation. Founded in 1974, Applied Microsystems originally manufactured CTDs for the oceanographic industry. In 1986, the company realized that CTDs represented an imperfect way to measure the speed of sound in water. Spotting an opportunity, Applied Microsystems developed the first ever time-of-flight measurement instrument for sound velocity and is still the market leader in that area sixteen years later. Applied Microsystems brought to market the first underwater mass spectrometer, arguably the most powerful underwater measuring machine in the world. More recently, Applied Microsystems engineered and delivered the industry’s first truly field-swappable sound velocity sensor.

“We have been using WebSource CPQ integrated with Salesforce for several months now and are pleased not only with the ease of deployment, but also the ease of use as our sales team develops quotes and proposals,” stated Robert Haydock, President of Applied Microsystems. “We are excited as we enter into phase two of our deployment, which is incorporating the solution into our website and enabling customer self-quoting,” added Haydock.

"Customers, such as Applied Microsystems, leverage their investment in Salesforce by extending opportunity management into quote and proposal management with WebSource CPQ,” said Chris Lesar, Webcom executive vice president. “It is the right tool for the right purpose: ease of configuration and pricing for the sales teams and completeness of forecasting and reporting for management,” added Lesar.

"The thousands of installs of different SaaS applications clearly demonstrate the incredible momentum of the AppExchange as the world’s on-demand application marketplace,” said Clarence So, Chief Marketing Officer, salesforce.com. “With WebSource CPQ, customers of all sizes can extend their Salesforce implementations with pricing, quoting and configuration to improve mission critical business operations.”

WebSource CPQ addresses the complexities raised by multiple product and service choices, sales hierarchy, discounting rules, pricing rules and multiple channels, whether a business is selling complicated equipment, software or services. Companies automate quoting, revisions, the approval process, as well as leverage guided-selling and self-service applications. With WebSource CPQ, companies:

  • Move effortlessly from opportunity to order.
  • Simplify the sales process and configure, price, quote and propose product/service offerings across all channels, anytime, anywhere.
  • Generate any document on demand without any duplication of effort or data.
  • Drive increased revenues and margins, increased customer satisfaction, reduced costs and improved productivity.

Simplification Expert Tips

Tip 1:

If your autocomplete gets to be too large or if you had fat fingered an entry one time, you can easy delete these. Click the text box until you see the drop down of autocomplete entries. Put your cursor over the entry you would like to delete and press SHIFT+DEL. Viola! the entry is deleted.

Tip 2: Autocomplete in FireFox and Internet Explorer

The autocomplete function in browsers makes administration much easier. While the browser will only keep single line input boxes in its memory (multi-line text boxes or text areas are not remembered for autocomplete), the ability to double-click a text box and have your previous entries available is quite helpful. You’ll find that FireFox does a little better job of keeping track of your entries in a text box than IE. Examples of areas where this comes in handy are: any administrative list search, rules definition (for the rule name), attribute definition (for attribute name and value names), product definition (for attribute configuration and many other configuration areas).

Be sure in FireFox and IE that you also turn on all the autocomplete settings. In IE go to Internet Option>>Content Tab>>AutoComplete Settings. Here check the “Forms” setting. Checking “User names and passwords on forms” can also be helpful when logging into CPQ. In FireFox go to Tools>>Options>>Privacy Section. Check “Remember what I enter in forms and the search bar”. FireFox also has a user name and password manager which can be accessed in the Security area of the options box.

Tip 3: <* DONOTREVERSERULES *> <* REVERSERULES *> and <* DONOTRESETATT *> <* DORESETATT *>

For the hard-core administrators, the most optimal/effective/efficient way to operate is to utilize 3 monitors with your PC:
<* DONOTREVERSERULES *> <* REVERSERULES *> are helpful tags especially in situations when there are many rules affecting the same attribute. So if for a particular rule, we want to disable rule reversal we can set the flag to DONOTREVERSERULES, if we want to enable rule reversal again, we set the flag to REVERSERULES. Here is an example of how to tell the software that for a particular rule, it should not do a reversal, but for all other rules before and after this rule it should.

condition:<*ANYSEL(Horsepower:4)*> action:<*DONOTREVERSERULES*>; <*DISSALLOWALLVALUESEXCEPT(Overload:4|5)*>; <*DOREVERSERULES*>

<* DONOTRESETATT *> <* DORESETATT *> are also very helpful tags when you need to select multiple attribute values for one attribute through rules. These tags are necessary because by default the system resets an attribute any time the SELATV tag is used. Because of this you cannot select multiple values in an attribute (which is set to a multi-select format such as Check Box) through the rules. Here is the how it would be used in a rule.

condition:<*ANYSEL(Color:Red)*>

action:<*DONOTRESETATT*>; <*SELATV(Material:Wood,Material:Metal)*>;<*DORESETATT*>
