Letter from Aleksandar Ivanovic, President & CEO

Alex Ivanovic, President & CEO

Thanks to our customers we had another record quarter. In addition to adding new customers at a record pace, our existing customers continue to add users. I believe this is a proof that those that have automated their quoting and ordering process are faring much better in this economic downturn and their business are growing instead of contracting. Seeing that makes all of our hard work well worth it.

Speaking of hard work, we launched yet another new release this month, keeping up with our aggressive innovation pace of one release per quarter. Some of the key improvements were in the area of guided selling. We tried to make the process of finding and selling what a customer really needs easier, even for the most novice users who have very limited knowledge about the products and services that they are selling or buying in the self service mode.

But we are not stopping there. During these challenging economic times we are making significant improvements to how specials, volume discounts and promotions are set up in our system, which will drive the top line revenue improvements for our customer. We want to make sure that our customers absolutely maximize their up-selling and cross-selling opportunities while almost eliminating any setup effort associated with administering them.

When it comes to improving the bottom line, our CallidusCloud WorkFlow product continues to strengthen its ability to streamline any process, from Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMA), to Bug Tracking and issue resolution. While it used to take weeks to set up a complex business process, now our customers are able to do it in days.

The opening of our new London office also resulted in several new customers including npower, Easynet, NEC and Activereach. With new products on the horizon, we are growing our staff in order to expand our products deeper into our current markets and horizontally into new areas of opportunity. Opening a sales office in London will help to support this rapidly growing business and provide the infrastructure to propel future success.

Simplification Expert Tips

In version v6.1 of Websource CPQ, a new feature was added for looking up values from custom (imported) database tables. This feature replaced the AUX tag with the new TABLE tag. The new tag builds on new administration for managing any custom database tables. Together, the new administration and TABLE tag provide a very powerful and useful tool in looking up values from these tables to use in pricing, cost, discounting rules, or any other applicable area.

The TABLE tag extends the capabilities of the AUX tag and provides a new builder wizard which assists in the syntax of the tag. Since the TABLE tag uses SQL strings, the builder window will ensure that the correct string is constructed to pull the desired value from the table. The builder also provides and fills in table names along with the columns included in that table, so that you do not have to remember these names. Using SQL strings, we can now generate powerful queries to return a value based on any number of conditions.

For example, we can now lookup a value based on ranges in a table. A table may contain pricing for different date ranges. A price can now be returned that is associated with a certain date range. This was not possible before with the AUX tag. Additionally, we can now perform a match upper or match lower, which before could only be done through attributes. Match upper/lower gives us the ability to have tiered pricing based on any factor, such as quantity or number of users (as an example).

While you may not find a need to replace any existing AUX tags with the new tag for straight forward pricing lookups, you will find it useful moving forward, especially with any complex conditions. Additionally, you may find that existing complex modeling could be resolved by utilizing some of the powerful and useful features of the TABLE tag.
